Photographer's Note

Snowshoer in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah during the winter. I posted several pictures of desert locations recently and thought I would mix it up a little with a winter picture. I am already looking forward to the fall and winter since the summer in Southern California has been sweltering.

Many of you are probably already familiar with the great colors and geogologic wonders of Bryce Canyon. It's truly a mecca for those who love landscape photography. Although most visit during the spring thru fall, winter can be a great time to come too. The addition of snow can make it seem like a different place altogether. And in many ways, you have the whole park to yourself. Bryce does get a lot of snow but if you catch it right, the temperatures can be mild and the skies very clear in the winter.

For this photo, I was also snowshoeing in the canyon when I saw this lady going up a steep patch of snow. I tried to emphasize her smallness compared to the cliffs by getting very close to the ground and shooting up.
