Photographer's Note

San Juan Capistrano is the seventh Mission in a chain of twenty-one missions in California, and was founded November 1,1776, by Father Junipero Serra. The Mission has earned a reputation as the "Loveliest of the Franciscan Ruins." On the left of the wall is the façade of the first adobe church. Behind the "bell wall" is the "Sacred Garden." A fountain inside Mission San Juan Capistrano's central courtyard was built in the 1920s through the efforts of Father St. John O'Sullivan.
