Windy Dream

Dream Lake
Rocky Mountain National Park.

1.1 miles from and 425 feet above the Bear Lake trail head sits Dream Lake. It is one of my absolute favorite places in Rocky Mountain National Park. Dream sits at an elevation of 9900 ft. (3018 m.). The two peaks are Left: Hallett Peak (12713 ft. -3875 m.) & Right: Flattop Mountain(12324 ft. - 3756 m.)

I had taken this morning to see how many lakes in the park I could catch with still reflective surfaces .. I got Sprague, Bear, & Nymph .. but the half mile climb up from Nymph to Dream lake was rewarded with an unrelenting wind blowing over the surface of Dream Lake .. Two other folks with packs of camera gear showed up and swore mightily at the lake while I rested here before going back down .. I tried to mitigate my disappointment by playing with my ND and polarizer together in the bright morning light. Although it wasn't still I still treasure every moment at this place.

This was the first time I made it here with an SLR .. my other Dream lake picks (see them to the left) are all on my old digicam. Andrew refused to go up this trail the three times I took him last summer .. hopefully he will come with me this year .. (he loves the place does not like the ascent).
