Photographer's Note

I took this photo in January of 2002 while stationed aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt. We were operating in the Arabian Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

It was released to the public. The caption read: "Squadron and ships company personnel conduct maintenance and equipment checks on the flight deck, while a F-14 “Tomcat” assigned to the "Diamondbacks" of Fighter Squadron One Zero Two (VF-102) launches from one of two steam catapults located on the ships bow. Theodore Roosevelt and her embarked Carrier Air Wing One (CVW-1) are conducting missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom."

The personnel you see here wearing the different color shirts/vests all have different jobs to do. They are seperated in this way so that the "Air Boss" (Person who is in charge of what goes on the flight deck) can make sure the right people are where they are supposed to be at the right time.

This one is for Philbentz
