Photographer's Note
The Sydney Opera House turned 40 last week and thousands of people turned out to celebrate the construction of this iconic building.
The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre. It is situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the facility is adjacent to the Sydney CBD and the Royal Botanic Gardens, between Sydney and Farm Coves.
Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, the facility formally opened on 20 October 1973 a project that began with Utzon's 1957 selection as winner of an international design competition. The NSW Government, led by Premier Joseph Cahill authorised work to begin in 1958, with Utzon directing construction.

Hello Chris,
It is surprising to think this iconic building is forty years old this year. Your point of view captures it perfectly and takes in a pleasant livley atmosphere. The people and the sinuous curves of the walls guide the viewer toward the subject. I like the light and colours.

Hi Chris
nice shot to celebrate this iconic building's 40th birthday. Love the POV, clarity and mix of elements here they give a real sense of the atmosphere of the occasion. Good job it is not this week I understand Sydney is clouded in smoke from the awful bush fires.
Regards - Brian.

Bonjour Chris,
L'opéra de Sydney est à mon oeil , la plus belle oeuvre architecturale et futuriste construite dans le siècle dernier.Sous tous les angles et sous toutes les lumières, même la nuit. Une excellente carte de visite pour la ville et le pays.
Amicalement

Hello Chris,
Yet 40 ! It still looks so modern ! So much crowd to celebrate the birthday ! What I like most is the two curve paths that leads to the opera.

Delphine

Hi Chris,
nice the panoramic view of the place and especially the foreground with the lot of people to enjoy their presentation there.I like the brilliant light and colour management as the beauty and the archetectural style of the new Opera house.

i had never seen the opera house from that point of view, therefore had no idea about the timber docks lying in behind of it! i like your use of low exposure to avoid any possible overexposures, thus casting in some handsome shades and a nicely saturated palette thereby. the crowd adds lots of charming colors.

Hello Chris,
No matter how many photo shown over this unique architecture, the Opera is always an intriguing edifice, with many "looks" from diff. perspectives.
The many people gathered added a fabulous vivid texture and tones to the whole.
Impressive and well lit photo.

Hi Chris,
40 is not as old as I thought. It is younger than I am -and it feels it is there since forever!
Very original perspective with plenty of people making a nice busy foreground. I guess most people do not like photographing this side because of the crowds there but especially for this occasion the colorful crowds add a special value. I have probably never seen the building from this angle.
Excellent work,
M
