Photographer's Note

Across Swanston Street from the St Paul's Cathedral, there is an old, narrow shopping arcade called the Cathedral Arcade. Most people would walk past without even knowing it is there, but this is where the stained glass dome in this photo is to be found. It is a challenge as far as composition is concerned, because the arcade is so narrow, but this is my favourite view. The light through the glass was sufficient for this exposure. I like the sense of airiness of the image, yet it is also old-worldly -- very typical of Melbourne where old and new can be found side by side in complete harmony.
