Photographer's Note
Like many mountain areas, the Australian Alps get covered in wild flowers in the summer. This photo was taken from near Mt Hotham and looks towards Mt Feathertop (1922 m) in the distance. The orange flowers in the foreground are everlastings, and the clumps of white flowers might be rice flowers.
The dead-looking trees are snow gums that were killed by a wild fire in 2004. They are growing back from their bases, but they will take another 20 years to get as high as the original trees. Probably by then there will have been another wild fire that kills them all off.

Hi Vincent,
The Australian Alps are an unknown area to most Europeans, and even a few Australians like me, although I have flown over them a few times enroute to and from Melbourne. The yellow flowers in the fg contrast well with the blue sky. Tfs!

Hello Vincent,
This is a delight!
The f/g is so sharp, so colourful, with mountain wildflowers and zigzag shapes of the burned snow gums.
The darker, b/g mountains create an excellent sense of depth.
I sincerely hope that the trees revive and do not have to undergo another such blaze!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Nice depth and excellent panorama image.
Very well done, TFS.

Hello Vincent,
A beautiful landscape with the flowers and trees in the sloping hills in front of the higher mountain behind them. The light was pleasant and clear and the colours natural.

Hello Vincent, Feathertop seems an unusual name for a mountain.
Excellent depth of field; I notice that there are trees quite high up on the mountain sides.
The snow gums and the wild flowers give us foreground interest too.
Interesting note.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Vincent
Very lovely mountain scene, looking very Spring-like with the broad base of colour at the bottom and then gradually leads the eye towards the peak. Well seen and beautifully framed ...
Best regards

Hello Vince,
Wonderful wild landscape with very distinct elements.
The foreground looks like a beautiful flower garden while the dead trees form a transition to the rather savage landscape further on.
Excellent clarity and sharpness.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Vincent,
The composition is well divided, the sky, the mountain and the flowers. The point of view is showing the details of Mount Feathertop. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.
