Photographer's Note
This is another photo of the smoke filled sky as a fire burned in Upwey and threatened several townships, including mine. I took this photo over the rooftop of my house while waiting to hear that if and when we were threatened directly so that we could leave in our cars which were loaded with our most precious things.
Today the fire is under control, although this morning crews from 36 firetrucks were busy establishing control lines around the burnt areas and putting out burning stumps in preparation for Friday which could take Victoria into another day of hell.

Hi Klaudio, another stunner. Out of this tragedy has come some beautiful photos I must say. The light and sharpness are great. I'm so glad to hear the fire's under control. Let's hope Friday doesn't start things off again. I'll have a vino for you - not home made today - but from your homeland: Lacryma di Cristi from Vesuvius. Very nice! Cheers, Lisa.

Hello Klaudio,
You must be thinking this nightmare will never end.
It's a great shot, but you must be longing for a clear blue sky.
Best wishes

Hi Klaudio,
It's amazing and sad at the same time that something as terrible as those fires can creat such an awesome and beautiful scene.
My thoughts are with you guys down under. Hope that the fire will stay under control and things will be back to normal soon.

Merhaba Klaudio, it is nice to hear from you and to know that you and your family are safe. Thank you for sharing all these information regarding the fire, I can't follow it better than your notes from any of the channels or sites. The photograph is just beautiful, excellently exposed and framed. Wish they were just clouds but not smoke. Have a good weekend.

HI Klaudio, I like the vertical format used here, really letting the sky dominate. The light on the lacy fringes of the clouds works well and of course the strange colour tells the story. cheers, Steve

I sincerely hope that you are well and the fire is not getting to close to you.
With a view of the sun like this I can imagine how thick and dense the smoke is. It is an excellent shot. I am amazed by your calm. Well done.

hello Klaudio,
my immediate association was with Jony Cash's "Ring of Fire", so now the song is stuck in my head.
I hope you and yours are safe, I've been watching the news about the fires and simply cannot believe that many of them are the result of arson, the stupidity of that is simply incomprehensible. but I have to admit that the smoke filled sky looks amazing, like something from the "Lord of the Rings", especially with the dark silhouettes of the trees in the background. great shot, even if it feels scary.
regards,
Kristine

Hello Klaudio,
So, three days ago when you posted this photo, the fires were still persisting. I hope by now things have improved vastly. The sad state of affairs is that with particulates in the air, as in a forrest fire or a volcanic eruption, you do get extraordinary sunsets. Here, the sun is still quite high in the sky, but the filter created by the smoke is apparent.
Warm regards, and have a good Sunday. It must be 10:45 am Sunday there, it is just 8:45 pm Saturday here in Virginia.

Ciao Klaudio, The sunrise was incredible during these days, I tried several times but failed, it was like I only had several minutes & it was gone. Thank God it's over for now, the rain has been a relief for all but I guess we could do with more. Well done, nice silhouette & colours & that's not to mention the pattern of the clouds in the sky & the sun's rays breaking through.

Hello Klaudio,
I'm happy you didn't have to suffer any harm due to those terrible fires.
This picture has a very particular aspect. The smoke creates a different colouring than fog would otherwise do. It's like a natural 'filter' that alters the light. Impressive!
Regards, René
