Photographer's Note

The Eyre Highway which links South Australia with Western Australia was only sealed in the late 1970s and was only made full width in the 1980s. Lots of cars (and caravans) met their ends on the road (crashes, breakdowns, rattled to pieces). Eucla it is far for the nearest towns (700km to the west and 500km to the east and those are to very small towns) and proper help. Because of that many vehicles were just abandoned. Near Eucla, tucked away in the bush is a grave yard for all those abandoned vehicles with anything useful stripped.

Best in the large view.
