Photographer's Note

On my revisit to our 16,000km road trip to Western Australia (WA) I now cross the border into WA. In earlier days was a series of telegraph stations across the bottom of Australia linking west with east. Messages were sent by morse code from one station to the next. With all the repeat messaging you would wonder whether all messages reached their destination correctly, although the operators had a high reputation for accuracy. The operators lived there in extreme isolation with food supplies coming by the occasional ship.

This is what remains of the Eucla station now being reclaimed by desert sands. It is just over the border in WA.

Best in the large view.
