Photographer's Note

Best opened in a new tab for better detail.

Berrima is the oldest settlement in our district with settlement starting around 1831. It was intended to become the major town for the south of New South Wales but when the railway was put through it by-passed Berrima so Berrima has stayed a small sleepy town for over a century. Now because of its age and character it is a popular destination for tourists. The current population is under 700.
Around the town are some classic old stone buildings but there are also old rustic and basic workers cottages such as this one. It and the cottage behind are both still in use. In the workshop is another one that sits just out of this photo that certainly isn't still in use.
