Photographer's Note
This wonderfully coloured and unusual specimen is I believe a Fly Agaric. It is normally red with white spots, but this one is a bit different as you can see. Maybe it is an antipodean version. Anyone out there know?

It seem a smurfs's house! Wondeful colours and very good sharpness. Well done!

This has incredible clarity of colour and texture.... and is well composed with the rugged bark of the pine tree in the background. The subject focus is dead on.

A mushroom from a ferrytale. I was looking for the dwarfs..
Very nice color and interesting texture of the mushroom (usualy they are smooth). Nice DOF. Unfortunatly, I'm not an expert in this field.
Well seen and well done, Nina.

I have an answer for you, my book says that if you have heavey rain the colour washes out to the yellow orange you see here.
DOF seems good here slight burn out of the white on the left, use burn tool set low (20%) to recover some of the lost details.overal though a good pic nice one.

This is brilliant Nina - the lighting is very suitable to bring out the subtle colours and the DoF is very well chosen just the right amount of background and foreground blur to show a little of the surroundings but not distract from the mushroom. I have no idea what type of fungus it is - I'm not going to eat it to find out!
PS Just for the title alone I'd give you full marks!

Nice shot! It does look a little odd for a Fly Agaric - I did see some more normal looking specimens in South Island when I was over there. The stipe also looks a little thicker than average. Sometimes they don't develop the normal colouration if they're covered by something when they're growing, so that might account for it.
Technically I'd have been tempted to move the dead branch in the background since it's a bit distracting IMO. It's good and sharp though :-)

You have really the art to take picture of mushrooms. This picture is so natural. The colours of the nature are so different, but they are also so complementary. It's wonderful.
Publish other mushroom pictures, you are excellent in this job.

Hi Nina,
It must be a subspecie of Amanita muscaria. "Amanita" is a very difficult genus without microscopic study. But the photo's good, colour saturation "just-so, not too much, not too little". I simply like it. Tfs, regards, László
