Photographer's Note

A couple walk their dogs on Bowentown Headland.

Bowentown Headland overlooks one of only two channels into Tauranga Harbour - to the right in this photo. At the base of this headland are the sheltered Anzac and Shelley Bays. These bays are both great spots for a picnic and are safe beaches for swimming, boating, water skiing or wind surfing. On the Pacific Ocean side of the Bowentown Headland is the popular surfing beach of Waihi. Bowentown Headland is also as significant culturally as it contains several Maori pa sites.
