Photographer's Note
The first days of our trip to Patagonia we stayed in the capital of Argentina: Buenos Aires. One of the afternoons was spent by making a cycling tour through the city.
This picture was taken in the neighbourhood of La Boca. Football-fans know this name probably from the very famous "Boca Juniors" football-club which has a huge stadium in this part of the town. But La Boca is also famous because of its old colourful houses.
La Boca has an old port and loads of European immigrants (mainly Italians) arrived here in the 19th century to find jobs. The poorest people stayed near the very dirty port and built simple houses of corrugated steel panels. According to our guide, they painted the houses with left-overs of paint that was used by the shipyards. As the amounts of paint were always rather small, the houses were painted in many different colours. And nowadays this neighbourhood is visited by hundreds of tourists every day to see these colourful poor man's houses.

Thanks Michael Gan - You spotted and captured this window nicely - I like the composition and fine bright colours, just the photo I needed for my theme - theres surely a world apart from that other fine photo :-)

I like the bright hues here.. nice compostion. I would love it more, if you had off-centred the window (as in the rule of 1/3rds) :)
It is still a good snap!

Hola Michael
I see you have visited La Boca in Arg. It is a nice place, very colorful.
Your composition is great, good you did not center the window, maybe if you step back a little bit to show more house it might be better...not sure
saludos!
K.
Ps.: Did you try "bife de chorizo?"

Je pense que la personne, qui habite là, aime les couleurs complémentaires : le vert et le rouge, le jaune et le bleu.
Je pense que le rouge est un peu trop saturé.
(mais c'est un avis personnel).

Hi Michael, great that you started your Patagonian series. This one really stands out due to the strong saturated colours and their arrangement. The contrast in textures between the louvres of the window blinds and the corrugated iron tops this off very nicely. Love it.

Very nice and colorful picture, the window very good placed in the frame. Very sharp, you can even see the texture of the wood in the board above the window.
I'll look forward to the rest of your pictures ;-))

Trying putting a frame around the photo, with a white background. This will isolate and bring out the rich colors even more.

Lucky you to have travelled to Patagonia.
Strangely enough it's not the kind of colors I thought of for that place. but now i am reading the note and that's buenos aires.. more like it. nice compo and nice colors.
I hope to see a lot of images from patagonia.

I like the colours. Really a good close up of something we normally don't notice. Good picture, well seen!

Hi Michael
Strong simple & sharp, the way I like it. The corrugated surface of the wall adds texture, which would be missing in a flat wall surface. Well done!

Great visual effect with these colors Michael. I'm curious about how this image appears to you with all the red and green? These colors being so strong in this picture seem a very important part of it, yet I suspect that you may not have seen this so strong when you took the picture. Either way, it's a very good image and well executed. -David
