Located in the Bolivian Highlands, the Uyuni Salar is the biggest of the planet, with an area of more than 12000 km2. More than 40000 years ago, it was covered by the Lake Ballivián. Other little salars of the region are also traces of this great prehistoric lake. It is calculated to have 120 meters of depth.
