Photographer's Note
The two brothers mountains (Os Dois Irmãos) taken from the famous Ipanema beach of Rio de Janeiro in the middle of a bright morning of May. What is incredible in Rio de Janeiro is how merged are the Nature and the City. Almost everywhere, you just need to look up or behind you and you can see either the mountains, either the sea. Here, you can see both…
Besides, you just can’t believe how the beach is crowded at this time of the day and how many people enjoy doing sports there : playing volley, capoiera, and especially walking all along the beach. Cariocas from 15 to 70 year old can be seen walking rather quickly along the large alley of Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon under this big hot sun. That’s quite spectacular…
Technically, I only add a light blue touch and sharpened the picture.

Very good beach scenery shot. Couldn't believe a beach on the earth could be more crowded than southern of France (with the exception of Bombay's Chowpatty, but in a different style and population...).
A shame with the cement border on the lower right corner...
I think a view taken from down on the beach in the middle of the most crowded area, preferably with a wide angle, could be interesting too.

Hey, you've been picturing my country better than all of us here. Now I understand how you learned portuguese. It seems you enjoyed Rio a lot. It's strange for me to see your pictures, I'm about 400Km far from Rio and I've been there about 10 times... at work! When travel in Brazil on vacations I choose quieter places, so I've never enjoyed Rio as a tourist.
For Luko: Crowded? I't was taken in May. You must go there on January!

Super sight, it is well made and very beautiful. I like the colors of the parasols.

Fantastic shot. There's a good balance between the beach and the mountains. Again, as I said before, I like diagonals and the composition of the beach in such an alignment pleases my eyes. The scenary is spectacular and those parasols add a very nice touch of color. I also like the mountains that seem to be pushing the city into the sea.
It's too bad for the cement border but just by scrolling the image on my screen I see that if you had cropped the bottom part the balance in the picture would have been not as good and we would miss the yellow parasol. How about a little cloning. I think it could be done.
You took that picture with a DSC-S75 and got these nice colors and sharpness ? Gee, I have a DSC-S51, which is not so different except for the number of pixels and I dont' think I could have such nice colors and sharpness.

An amazing shot. perfect as it is. I like even the cement border, because as it parallels the line of water, it gives the scene a certain take-off momentum. Of course it could be cloned out in PS in less than a minute, but then the beach would look wider than it is, and the whole feel would be changed. Steven made the right decision here to leave it in.

Ambiance incroyable, j'aurais pris la photo plus loin sur la plage pour n'avoir que les montagne et la ville. Superbe capture!

Incredible ambiance, I would have taken the photograph further on the beach to have only the mountain and the city. Superb capture!

Hello Steven... I have one picture of "Dois Irmãos", but in other perspective.
I called this pic by "Pedra Bonita", if you want to see it. :)
