Photographer's Note
- "Is it safe to walk along the beaches ?"
- "I just saw a couple being assaulted by kids on the beach on the news !"
I can't remember how many times I was asked this by french people :)
Well, I guess that any big city has its violence issues. It's true Rio de Janeiro is a particular place with its "Favelas" where gangs do their best to gain their share of the Drug Business. And the Favelas are quite close from the beach. But, provided you are careful to not bring too expensive stuffs on the beach, to not walk alone in the night in a empty area, I guess you can escape most problems.
Here is a view of Ipanema where you could locate a policeman every 50m :) Nice guys who are sweating in the sun while tourists like me are enjoying their stay.
No cropping. USM applied.

great shot. I think that cropping a bit off the right side, would have made it even more interesting. just about 2-3 cm.

Hi Steven,
Nice portrait of a policeman with slight off centre positioning.
This is one of rare photos where horizon tilt doesn't matter as our eyes are focused on the FG, where you controlled light well and manage to preserve natural skin and texture colours.
Very fine & clear work,
Robi

Bonsoir Steven,
but where is the Girl from Ipanema ? :)
Amicalement.

Bonsoir Steven;
A bientôt.

Nice shot, Steven, and good note, too. But where is the girl from Ipanema?
Best,
Matt
