FROM THE BALCONY, a photo from Parana, Sud

Photographer's Note

I was in the top of a hill facing Ivaí River in the moment it enters in Borrazópolis municipality, in this point it is not deep.
Ivaí is one of the 50 largest Brazilian rivers, but here it is only at half of its journey, 300 km ahead it will find Paraná River.
In FG you can see some volcanic stones, and bellow the hill a strip of wheat, most of landscape ahead is composed by pastures and winter corn plantations very damaged by frosts. The curve of river marks the entrance in a big meander. Borrazopolitan territory is in FG while we have Lidianópolis at left and Lunardelli in the far BG.
You can see a dead pasture and a group of cows in a hill at right.

Eu estava no topo de uma colina, diante do rio Ivaí, no momento em que ele entra em território borrazopolitano, nesse ponto ele não é muito fundo.
O Ivaí é um dos 50 maiores rios do Brasil, mas aqui ele está apenas na metade do seu curso, faltam ainda uns 300 km até alcançar o rio Paraná.
No primeiro plano temos pedras vulcânicas, mais abaixo um trigal e ao longe a maior parte da paisagem está coberta de pastagens e milharais danificados pelas geadas.
A curva do rio marca a entrada do Ivaí num meandro bem grande, no primeiro plano temos Borrazópolis, à esquerda vemos Lidianópolis e bem ao fundo o município de Lunardelli.

Hello Jorge,
Nice view with the "balcony" in the foreground and the river in the middle. I wouldn't have noticed the distant cows unless you had mentioned them and I had searched the larger version.

Una amplia perspectiva en esta composicion vertical, desde estas rocas volcanicas en primer plano a los campos de trigo, la arboleda paralela al rio y mas lejano mas campos de cultivo en un terreno de onduladas colinas.

Hello Jorge,

This needs to be viewed in a New Tab to be able to appreciate he whole scene at once.
The volcanic rocks in the f/g are sharp and clearly show their irregular shapes and lichen coverings.
The clarity in the f/g and hazy effect deeper into the scene, creates an excellent sense of depth.
I would not have seen the cows without your reference, in your notes.

beautiful picture with the Ivai River. You rarely show it, I do not remember it. Interesting to see the green forests and fields of the frozen plantations.

Hi Jorge,
I suppose this is similarly volcanic but since the eruptions happened a long time ago, I guess at least, the vegetation managed to take back the land and it is quite lush. Although people took it over using it for agriculture.

Hello Jorge,
When I read the title of your photo, I thought for a moment that you had a very special and beautiful view from your balcony at home. I thought it was strange that you hadn't shown such a picture before.
The composition is fantastic.
It even looks a bit like two different photos are shown above or below each other.
Wonderful alternation of different fields and forests with the river in the middle and the volcanic stones in the foreground.
