Photographer's Note
The Place
The rocky shoreline in Dichato during a cloudy sunset. This is a place I have been trying to introduce to TE community. You can check in my gallery for other shots from here.
You can always check the location of my photos by clicking on the map link.
Background
During December, the sunset in this part of Chile is around 9PM, exactly the time for dinner at my parent’s place. Thus, it was very hard for me to leave home and wait for the right light for sunset photos.
But this time, I had the excuse that I had invited a friend who I met in Flickr to come over to take photos with me, so I had to go. My family let me go.
After the session I invited Alvaro to have dinner with us. We talked a lot about photography, and then they realized that I am not the only crazy guy who sets a camera on a tripod and takes 100 shots of the same rock for 25 minutes, and then goes to the very same rock the following sunrise..... there are more “crazy” people out there!
Technical
Used Cokin Grad 8ND filter.
Left it unsharpened on purpose.

hi Jorge,
any particular reason why you did not sharpen the photo? I like a lot the effect of the long exposure, but right now it makes me want to narrow my eyes to get details in focus, I feel as if I've forgotten to put my contact lenses in :)
but light management is great, I like a lot the gray and sombre mood, which is not usually the case. some pink in the sky certainly helps :)
best,
Kristine

Hi Jorge, I have smiled reading your note. When I tell my friends they I go for a walk near my home and come back I am mad. I like the photo, specially the sky, but I prefer the one with Alvaro. Very nice landscape.

Hola Jorge,

Saludos
Álvaro

Hola Bruno,
it's definitely a well executed composition. F/22 goes very well for this type of photo. The light was well managed and there is a nice atmosphere. It's just a pity about the sharpness. You mean the original image lacks sharpness? This could be even more powerful.
Regards,
Carlos

Very good compo, Bruno! I like the down framing, well using the rocks to add interest to the foreground and excellent depth. Its also nice to see the water motion. Beautiful lights!

Zeca

Hola Jorge,
Amazing light, perspective and compo! A perfect register of a magic moment . The rocks are very well "arranged" and that splash of water coming couldn't be better caught.
Un abrazo, José.

Nice landscape work - the light and colors are very beautiful - and its got that real professional look they get from this style of shooting. The slight blur is the only detraction.

Hi Jorge,
I like the low point of view and the use of the vertical frame. The light is really lovely under that wonderful sky. Superb tones and textures. An excellent capture Jorge..
regards,
Darek
