Photographer's Note

These wild open spaces right at the entrance to San Francisco Bay have been largely preserved by the military; although the strong winds and usual fog also may also be factors. Here is a Link to an area map, shows how to access Marin Headlands from Highway 101 just north of Golden Gate bridge. It also shows evidence of the military presence, although the area is now used primarily by the public.
