Photographer's Note

Not much reminds me of speed week when I look at this picture and I guess most of the year the Bonneville Salt Flats are pretty much like I show it, sometimes with more water than now when the summer heat dries the wet parts out and leaves this famous white salt crust I have shown in other uploads from other corners of this lake. No snow in the middle of summer :))) but salt that slowly dries out. This is what it is!

I don’t know how it goes with you but I have always these things in mind and how they have to turn out for me when it comes to photography. I have seen pictures before of famous photographers. I had blue skies in my head, a white salt crust we could drive on and maybe even a motorcycle standing there serving as my foreground, maybe Burt Munro’s Indian Twin Scout :))) What we had on our first day was an overcast sky, water on the salt curst and a rented car that was by far not attractive enough for a picture. LOL.

Anyway, now that I am back, I love this picture a lot. My foreground is all salt (and stone) and no sea foam. This is how it looks for me but it is not.

Other pictures, taken a day later, WITH the famous white salt crust:
