Photographer's Note
This is the square in Milies, one of the most beautiful and popular villages of Pelion mountain. On the left side you can see one of its most impressive sights, the Church of Panmegistoi Taxiarxes, with fabulous frescoes and the best acoustics you can find in a church, due to some amazing architectonic "tricks".
MORE INFO ABOUT MILIES FROM ***www.e-pelion.gr*** :
"Milies is 28 km away from Volos, the capital of Magnesia, and is one of the better-known villages of Pelion, and also the centre of the municipality. It has 1,500 permanent residents and is set in the glorious green surroundings of the Milies valley. The village has a great mythological and historical tradition and offers a large variety things to see, a fact which has helped it to become one of the most significant Pelion destinations.
Milies is the homeland of Anthimos Gazis, Grigoris Konstantas and Daniel Filippidis, and is a place steeped in tradition, with a history of trading, art and culture. Milies is also a place where the flag of the revolution of 1821 was raised. In Milies, you can find a well-established school, the Public Library and also the end-of-line station for the Pelion train, “Moutzouris”.
What you will see
Well-preserved mansions, buildings and cobbled pathways which are scattered around the village, among which the historical pathway that connects the village square with the train station. You can also see fresh water springs, churches, apple trees, olive trees, chestnut trees and many beautiful gardens.
Visit
The Public Library of Milies which houses over 3,500 rare books, manuscripts, letters, the teaching material of the school and the original flag of the revolution raised by Anthimos Gazis.
The Folklore Museum with an important collection of folklore art, clothes and other material.
The Taxiarhes Temple with its innovative construction and unique religious paintings.
The train station of “Mountzouris”, and the iron bridge, built in the early 20th century by Evaristo De Chirico.
Near the train station the monument of the fallen.
St Nicolas Temple, where you can find the tombs of Anthimos Gazis, Grigorios Konstantas and Daniel Filipidis.
Milies High School, which was built on the site of the old Milies School, and the stadium with its amphitheatre-like seating.
The churches of St Haralambos and St Athanasios of Athos, located between Milies and Vyzitsa. The little church of Taxiarhis Michail, situated after the “De Chirico” iron bridge. The small churches of Agia Triada, Agia Marina, St John and the old monastery of St Nicolas"

Jassu Hercules,
really a nice village square and a famous night-capture, as usual..
reminds me a bit to another square more in the south of Pelion peninsula, a town called Argalasti, i´ve seen with my own eyes and it´s looks a bit identical....
have a nice day, kind regards Bernd

Kalimera Hercules.

Luis.

Hercules,
This is a well composed blue hour shot. Your blending of natural and artificial lighting works well here. The effect of the wet surfaces is very nice. The angle of the shot works well giving the scene a sense of depth and direction.

Hi Hercules,
No one to be seen on the square, but the many chairs and tables create a wonderful repetition. Great light management too and the colours are very attractive. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Hercules,
very charming place. Perfect blue hour timing. I like especially the reflections in the tables and even in the pavement. It makes a fantastic atmosphere. Everything is ready and waiting for guests. Actually it would be also interesting full of people but obviously the blue hore may be gone till they arrive,
Excellent work,

Geia sou Hrakli,
I have greatl evening souvenirs in tavernas and kafeneio (nice tsipouro!) under the big plane trees of Millies. It is a wonderful place in summer.
The angle of view is chosen well with the bluish light to the left and the golden light to the right.
