Photographer's Note

The 3 mast tall ship "Gorch Fock" stayed 3 days in the Bordeaux harbour, so it's the opportunity to take some pictures. Moreover there is one of the sailors who is waiting.
The boat has been built in 1958 in Hamburg. Some data: overall lenght 89,3m; width 12m ; number of sails 23 (2037 m2); mast height 45,3m,; crew of 74 sailors.
She has undertaken 146 cruises (as of October 2006), including one tour around the world in 1988

Tu as bien raison de denicher ta documentation Clodo tout en offrant des belles surprises. Telle etait Johny la Guitare. L'equipement de ce voilier est impressionant sur le plan visuel. Le marin est bien la pour donner une dimension plus vivante de ton reportage. Toujours tres curieux de ton travial, ami.

fantastique détial, quel graphsiem de mâts, une merveille, avec tous ces cordage qui s'entem^lenent quel navire, fantastique on a vraiment envie d'embarquer sur un tel bâteau, superbe compo et iamge.

bonjour Claude
le cadrage serré donne un superbe graphisme,les mâts et leurs cordages sont vraiment impressionants,je me demande comment les marins peuvent maîtriser tout ça!Les lumières,les reflets sur la coque,le ciel pâle donnent une belle harmonie de teintes gris-blanc,sur lesquelles se détachent bien les cordages noirs!Bien vu!

the thumbnail doesn't do justice to the photo - I noticed the sailor only after opening it...
I like tall ships, especially their incredible tangle of ropes, like here.
nice natural angle - the eye is led towards the right as if following an arrow...
if you like ships and tall ships, this year we have again Sail 2010 in Amsterdam - it's in August :)
