Castle of Platamonas, a photo from Pieria, Macedonia

Photographer's Note

The Castle of Platamonas is one of the more beautiful and well preserved castles in Greece. It is located at the south-east foot of Olympus, on a hill over the sea, a position that controls the shortest road which connects since the ancient times Macedonia to Thessaly.
It was built by Lombard crusaders in 1204. Today the castle has got its initial shape, which is strengthened by eight towers. Some of its important findings are the Byzantine temple of the 10th – 11th century, the residences of the 10th century, the temple of the 18th century, a part of the Hellenistic wall and the gate at the wall of the keep.

Interesting castle, interesting environment. I like Rhodes (Megalith) I saw, and Crete (Castello Franco)

it is so pretty it seems almost surreal. Amazing POV allowed you to show this fantastic castle set against the blue of the sea. And you have the great green foreground. The fortress seems to be sandwiched between two colors.

There is a great beauty in the elements of the composition, since the vegetation in foreground, up to the nice architecture of the castle, and the sea in background, with a few magnificent textures.
