Photographer's Note
Visiting Obidos feels like travelling in time. Specialy if you are there at night or early in de morning when most of the tourist have left the city. The village of Obidos was conquered from the Moors by King Afonso Henriques in 1148, and later given by King Dinis to his wife, the Holy Queen Isabel, as a weddingpresent. Thanks to its location along the Atlantic Ocean, Obidos flourished into a major trading port. Unfortunately, by the 16th century, large deposits of silt at the river delta dammed up the harbor area and destroyed the port. However, the city remained a favorite among the royal family of Portugal, and every Portuguese queen after Dona Isabel, up until the 1800s, was given Obidos as a wedding present.
the village was partially destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. This small village has innumerable cultural treasures

Hello Kik,
An excellent POV for this great view over the roofs of Obidos with the many chimneys and on the distance the diagonal line of the battlements of the city wall leading towards the tower.
From here it looks like a compact town with probably many alleyways to wander through.
Beautiful alternation of red roofs and white facades.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Kikko,
a very well composed image with the beautiful roofs in foreground and a great depth towards the citywall in the background. Good light and sharpness too. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kik
i had a feeling this was either Spain or Portugal!
it would be great to have one of these in my own personal gallery :)
perhaps one day!
the ragged jagged placements of the rooftops make this work visually. if they were all linear, it would lose its appeal.
great overview
cheers

Emilius

Hi Kik
So this is where you've been? Welcome back, you've been missed. I like this vertical frame which adds even more depth to the image. The rooftops are so quintessentially Southern European. Excellent tones and textures. Great jon, have a good day.
Warm regards

Hallo Kik,
Vriendelijke groeten,
Robert

Hello Kik, that's a very familiar beautiful view for me. I agree with you on that, walking in the narrow streets of Obidos is like travelling in a time tunnel. The red roofs of the houses look amazing from this perspective. Best regards, Tolga

Hi kiks,
beautiful composition with the roofs climbing higher and higher, finally topped up with the fragment of the fortress.
Portugal is such a beautiful and photogenic country. I hope to get back there some day again.

Hello Kik.
The composition and/or cropping are superlative here, closing in on the red tones of the tiled roofs and leading the eye up the hill to the fortified tower. A great pattern of buildings and just the right proportion of sky at the top. Very well done, and good note.

Andrew

Hi friends,
a nice composition, I like the graphical effect of the red roofs of the houses in foreground, and how they lead our look towards the tower and the wall, beautifully surrounded with the green vegetation.
The image is deep, has a great sharpness and a good light.
It's an excellent work.
Best regards,
Josep
I wish you and yours, a very Happy New Year!
