Photographer's Note
Trakai Island Castle (Lithuanian: Trakų salos pilis) is located in Trakai, Lithuania on an island of Lake Galvė. The castle is sometimes referred to as "Little Marienburg". The construction of the stone castle was begun in the 14th century by Kęstutis, and around 1409 major works were completed by his son Vytautas the Great, who died in this castle in 1430. Trakai was one of the main centers of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the castle held great strategic importance.Trakai Island Castle lost its military importance soon after the Battle of Grunwald, when the chief enemy of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was defeated by the Lithuanian-Polish army.

Beautiful work, technically sound and benefiting from the warm light and an appealing subject. Nice framing by the trees in the foreground. It resembles a painting and I could see it framed as a poster. It is the warmth that really makes it special. The good old 20D still delivers, doesn't it? It is my climbing camera these days.

Czesc,
ladne ujecie slawnego dla nas zamku w cieplym swietle. Cos takiego widzialem u Krzycha (Fis2). Baszty przypominaja mi te z Malborka i Fromborka. Dobra notka rowniez.
Milego dnia.

Hi Gregg
what i really like about this photo, is how the Castle is set back a bit into the frame.
it allows for the water reflections, and the sunlight to strike the greenery along the bottom first.
Its like waiting for desert last! :)
lovely warm light, and beautiful crimson castle.
nicely done
cheers

Hi Greg,
You chose the perfect light for your composition of this fairy-tale castle. The rosy tones of the castle and its reflection stand out in the lovely frame of cool greens and blues.
Years ago I had a friend who mourned the loss of his beloved Lithuania. I wonder if he ever got back?
Wishing you health, love and joy (HLJ), Pat
