Amazing Azulejo, a photo from Porto, Nord

Igreja do Carmo e das Carmelitas is the most noteable church in the Vitória area, Porto.
To it's side this wall marvelous azulejos, painted by Carlos Branco.
The tiles were produced in a tiles factory in Gaia ,suburb of Porto, and mounted on the church's façade in 1912.

"Azulejo" is a form of Portuguese painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tilework. They have become a typical aspect of Portuguese culture for centuries.
In Portugal, azulejos are found on the interior and exterior of churches, palaces, ordinary houses and even train stations or subway stations.
Many azulejos chronicle major historical and cultural aspects of Portuguese history.

Hello Kris
I am surprised that you have had no earlier critiques. The scene is simple but shows a lot of detail of the architecture and the tiled mural. However the woman in yellow and the green man on the go sign still stand out. A good composition. Cheers and happy 2012, Marlene

The colour scheme is exactly the same as in traditional Russian national design Gzhel.

Hi Kris,
What a fantastic façade with great delicate details. I like that you have incuded the wooden door and those lovely windows within your composition. The person walking gives a good sense of scale.
