The Swiss Canton of Appenzell is divided into 6 districts:
• Appenzell
• Gonten
• Oberegg
• Rüte
• Schlatt-Haslen
• Schwende
You can see all these district's coat of arms round the central window on this building, Salesis House, Postplatz, Appenzell.
I have checked the detail of the flags with Wikipedia and the tourist information that I bought home. Salesis House is one of only two free standing stone buildings in the village, more like a small town. The solid three storey square building of rendered quarried stone and wide pitched roof dates from 16th century.
