Photographer's Note
Hidden in plain sight along the Hewitt Canyon Road is Elephant Arch.
Though I'd driven the rough dirt road in the Tonto National Forest several times, I'd never noticed the arch. It was only when planning another hike using Google Maps' satellite view that I saw the marker and did an online search for it. Even knowing where it is, I had to drive slowly while scanning the mountain slope. Finally spotting it, I had about a quarter mile trailless uphill hike, arriving just as the sun crested the mountains to the east.
As usual, the best viewing is by opening in a new tab.
