Photographer's Note
Ok.. first of all I hesitated between this one and the BW in the WS. So I would REALLY appreciate if you let me know which one you prefer....
****************************************************
This girl was below a bridge which crosses Ganges from one side of Rishikesh to other (I forgot the name of the Bridge). The passer bys throw coins into the river probably after making a wish. Now let me explain it to you about the 'Coin throwing syndrome'.
In many places in Asia when you see a pond with a fish you will also see a lot coins in it! I believe that people must believe that their wish may come true by throwing coin into a 'fishy' pond!! I never tried it!
So back to the photo, here some people threw coins some others some food for the fish below. As you can imagine this girl with couple of other kids was interested in the coins that were falling from the the bridge...
By the way the water wasn't really that warm during this time of the year.
ps & tech.
Scan from photo and just increased contrast and brightness by about 50.
Have included the bridge in the WS so you can see the hight and the environment.

Absolutely brilliant experimental shot. I love the treatment here, and the woman, though very small in the frame, works in thi case, suggesting the vastness of this river. Very nice work.

Superb tonal treatment that emphasizes the spatiality. beautiful, spare vision. Great stuff! Francis

hi bala, for me both of the versions work perfectly; depending on the purpose i would do the following:
for a photo gallery i'd choose a less contrasted, darker version;
for a decoration of a modern dance club - the more "agressive", more futuristic and eperimental version;
great work, jerzy

A very artistic shot. First I did not see what it is without the title. But I must say it is a great piece of work you captured here. i like overall the composition.

Hi Bala,
Superb! This compo is really good.
I like the light, and that person being alone in the low right corner.
Very graphic.

Very well done with your experiment. This is an art-photo. Simple but very strong composition. Cheers, John.

Bala, I like them all. in a way, i like the b/w version more because it is less abstact (imo). the one with the bridge is great too, the massive size of the bridge with the small person beneath it is a great image, also the bridge adds some context to it. But, without the bridge, it looks perfect, with a great composition. they are all winners. it is a fantastic placement of the girl within the frame. an excellent photo.

Hi Bala,
Nice framing, but the picture is a little bit overexposed to me. I prefer the one in the workshop...

Bala, This is very good work... really really good stuff.
I rather prefer this one, the B&W is also nice but this gets stronger IMHO.
The framing is perfect, the girl is posicioned very nicely in the photo.

Looks more like a painting than a photo. I really like it because of the subtle beauty of this scene. The position of the lady in the frame is perfect as well. Nice work.

This image become almost graphical work, not a photo. I felt like it after seeing your WS. BUT I love this one. MAYBE because you did excellent work on PS and I was amazed with what you could do to the image on PS. Anyway You did a good work!

Ton traitement donne une excellente ambiance à cette photo.
La femme est bien placé.
Je préfère nettement celle-ci au WS.

Bala, I think this is great, much more interesting than the workshop photo. It has a beautiful ethereal quality, as if she were in a dream. It may be more PP than one is "supposed" to use on TE, but who cares??? It's a great shot!

Hi Bala,
this is one of your bests i think. Great composition here.. and your choice of PP is perfect (is much better the other WS ones imho) i especially love that white line across the frame..
Congrulations.

I would say that you did a pretty good work on this photo .... but what is the diagonal thing going across the photo ... it is the big suspension rope of the bridge
the name of the bridge is probably "Ram Jhulla" or it could be "Lakshamn Jhulla" if I am registering the scene right
thanks for sharing the photos mate
cheers ... sarju

hi Bala, an absolute stunner with the composition. you have experimented with the exposure so nicely, this ought to be a classic photo yet its simplicity.
good work indeed!

C'est très artistique de cette façon, mais difficile à déterminer ce que c'est. Mais de l'autre côté, la photographie ne doit pas être du fast food. Merci pour l'explication intéressante et chez nous cela existe aussi de jetter des pièces dans l'eau. A+

Very nice, very personal and creative, despite the barrenness of the capture which you chose to even emphasize more at PS time, following the feeling that was yours when you captured it.

Bala, en feuilletant ton album, je suis tombé sur cette photo, c'est un régal que cette page à peine colorée et un sujet tout menu dans le coin. C'est encore un cliché que j'ai placé dans le thème "Minimalism".
