Photographer's Note

Here's a place that is not often seen on TE, I found only 2 other photos from Balestrand. View of Sognefjord (right) and its arm Fjaerlandsfjord (left) from Raudmelen (972m.). This is reached by a 5hr return hike which starts at sea level. The village seen below is Balestrand. Stitch of 2 photos, this was a home scan so the stitch quality is bad, especially where the village is, so I will not add a large version.

The world’s longest fjord, the Sognefjord, lies in the heart of the Norwegian fjord country and extends more than 200 km (120 miles) inland. The region where this deep fjord meets the glaciers and Norway’s highest mountains is considered one of the world's most beautiful travel destinations
