2004 Venetian Carnival II, a photo from Ile-de-France, Nord

Photographer's Note

Same place as yesterday, ie the Arsenal of the Bastille place in Paris. I liked very much the mysterious attitudes the characters took all the way along the canal. Next event, April 2005.

Many people asked me for a closer shot yesterday so this time I used :
- 420 mm focal,
- my new Flash Metz 44 AF-4N

Original framing. I resized the picture, adjusted the color balance then desaturated a little bit then applied the unsharp mask.

The muted background colours suit this costume perfectly. The DoF and cropping are both very good. Very well captured. I especially like the netting over the eyes and the fact that we can still see them clearly.

Great shot I love the detail of the eyes, and the masks detail is super very mysterious and very antique-y. The colour contrast of blue and gold is very good, adding an element of wealth and richness to the image.
I am a big fan of street workers, performers and festivals and this shot is a very good example of what I like.
