Photographer's Note
This man seemed to be wondering around this valley without a purpose when I first met him. He eventually gave up hasseling me and just allowed me to take the picture. He was probably wondering what on earth I was doing there in Kashmir without a purpose which he could imagine. Worlds apart I suppose.

Hi Simon and welcome to TE.
I like the composition of this shot. The man just "being" there and the stunning landscape in the background.
A great first post.
Looking forward to seeing more from you

I think this is really good, Simon.
You captured a great pose and an interesting expression on the face of the man, and your placement of him in the frame is just right. It puts him in the context of his environment, and what an environement it is!
I like how you blurred the background just enough so it doesn't detract from the subject, but allows us to make out all the details.
The dull, diffused lighting also seems right here.
Good work, and welcome to TE.
Cheers,
Ben

Hi Simon,
Welcome to TE! Excellent first post! I too like the way the background is blurred a bit. The sharpness and clarity of the subject is very well-preserved, though. Interesting landscape. Great note, and great work!

Simon,
Amazing balance & use of Shallow DOF...
the f2.8 is phenomenal here...
Gives a feeling of unending solitarity.
Well done.
Cheers,
Prem.

Simon: this is perhaps the most immediately noticeable for me in your new gallery. It's a great environmental portrait but I would have sharpened more and saturated more also. regards, c

Simon,
Grea shot with a great depth of field, it looks like a really interesting place also. I would be good if there were some animals in the backgound.
With regards
Rob

Hi Simon,
His pose and expression is really intriguing, probably because he is also very intrigued with you. The DOF and POV are great, you did a nice compo showing that wonderful snowed valley but blurring it so it didn't compete with the portrait.
A note also for the strange but beautiful lighting and the sharpness.
Well done!
Regards, José.

I really enjoy your title and the way you composed it. The dof is perfect here. I just regret the low contrast, but the pic is whatever excellent.
