Photographer's Note
Displayed here is a part of the Köln (Cologne) Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). This station consists of three main structures. The front building, and the two parts sheltering the 30 platforms. The main shelter is a high arched metal & glass structure. Flanking it is a lower section glass/metal structure with diagonal arches. The picture is shot at this part.
The station was built in 1957 and in 1989 a major renovation and expansion took place.
Platform One is a (Paul) King song from the ’85 album ‘Bitter Sweet’

This is shot with the 19 mm super wide angle lens. I didn’t perform a correction for the lens distortion for it adds a dynamic sweep to the pic.

Wondrful structure of this interesting roof, Bert. Tehre is a lens "barrel" distortion which, IMO. is very effective and dynamic. Excellent light and colors. Well done, Bert.

Genoeg lof. Hij is gewoon goed. proficiat.

Lovely urban shot with a fine depth going in diagonal, and strong graphical look, coming from the station's roof, Bert! ;-) I love the way you captured the light, as the shadows in foreground bring even more details to the composition and bring variety. Wonderful true colours and nice contrasting tones. Great architecture shot, Bert - bravo!

Very good and interesing frame. Good use with the x0.6 converter, there is a distortion but it fitts the frame.
If you had one person in the second passage in the right frame with the face to the left, it was better. (I have lot of demands :-) ).

I agree, Bert, the lens distortion really adds dynamic and power to this composition. Other than that, I really like how you managed to capture this wide angle view of the station, and the pattern of the metal and glass roof which also provides some interesting shadow effects. The colors and sharpness are good, too. Great shot.

Zo hey, wat een overkoepeling, mooi, heel mooi, en gemaakt met een goede lens, Bert, het maakt het geheel erg ruim allemaal.
Mooie picture !

Now this is nice, I see they borrowed a design form the vaulted ceilings of the medievel churches. Very affective spaceframe concept and a beautiful architectural concept to boot. Thanks for sharing, Bert.

The graphic roof in the top, a game between light and shadow in the bottom : this is original, Bert.
Maybe is it possible to crop a bit in the left to cut the post in the upper corner.
Well done !

How nice. There aren't that many real wideangle shots here on TE. This one works very well and gives a very nice impression of the structure of the roof by twisting the natural symmetry of all those curved triangles with the fisheye lens.

You really have the eye Bert. You show us an excellent shot again, taken with a wide angle which is really not obvious as you don't have here a very foreground. And you perfectly succeeded, this is very dynamic in the lower part, with "fast" lines, and extremely graphic in the upper part with a great repetitive pattern. A clever and also expert use of a wide angle in a station, the inclusion of the train only in background is also an add. This is an excellent shot Bert !

Seems that you used a big wide angle to take this picture. Those curves are funny to look but the architecture is really interesting a well framed. Well done, Bert!

wow, wide angle, Bert!
Very nice picture of this platform, PLUS all the extras you give us.
The roof is really excellent, with all the different angles, and thus the different lightning. (Come to think of it, you didn't need a new camera:-)) The sahdow because of the roof, is delicious, on the platform, and on the train, colours are great. Well done, delicious picture

This is a very impressive station. The canopy is great. This wide angle is really great. It really captures the spaciousness here. I like your composition with this arch springing off on the left to connect with all the others and let the eye spring across the entire image. Very nice colors, especially the blue through the canopy. If you hadn't told me the age I would have though this was one of those early century or late 19th century iron and glass canopy train stations. Very nicely done.

Bert demonstrates again he definitively has a particular and very accurate eye of common stuff surrounding us. First time I see a wide-converter: it's just great, I love the lens distortion, I will buy one.

I like this kind of architecture images. This shelter reminds me of Oriente Station here in Lisbon, Portugal, from the Spanish architect Calatrava. Nice image Bert!

You know what... Last december I was here, in Cologne, and I tried to portrait exactly the same platform. I did not reach an appropiate way to do it. Pitty, because I like a lot this stations. Congratulations, I take note of your picture.
