Woodpecker, a photo from Washington, Ouest

Photographer's Note

While hiking on the trail from Rattlesnake Lake to Rattlesnake Ledge, we spotted this woodpecker. I got the camera out quickly and was lucky enough to get a few shots before he flew away. It was interesting to watch him peck away at the tree.

Hi Matthew. I have never seen a woodpecker in action. I guess they are very fast! Nice picture and lucky catch. The colourful bird make a nice subject. Well framed and composed picture. Thanks for sharing.

Nice capture! I felt that tree trunk on the left was distracting. I cropped the photograph to remove it. Hope you like it.

Very sharp image and the colours are outstanding, but how did you manage to blurr the left side of the image?

Nice shot. Every time I have been camping, I have heard the sound of the woodpeckers around but was never actually able to get a nice shot like this one of yours.

In my garden, I sometimes see or hear woodpeckers with their attracting sounds... You captured a nice one here, with vivid colors, good sharpness and narrow DOF with blurred BG.... nice texture of the moss on the tree trunk..

Exceedingly good portrait of theis woodpecker and the image has excellant composition with the added habitat which is sometimes missing from a lot of wildlife photos

Great capture of this colorful noisy creature who is seen in exceptional detail and clear vibrant color. I love the lovely moss clinging to this dead tree and the muted background.
