Photographer's Note

This picture looks across from one side of the harbour in Saint-Martin-de-Ré to the other. I remember the morning was dreadful - pouring rain and quite cold, but as the day wore on the clouds broke up and by the time we reached the largest town and port on this island, the sun beat down as one would expect in Summer.
Saint-Martin is simply a charming small town of about 2,500 inhabitants, and perhaps a much larger number of visitors in the Summer months.
The pleasant cafés and strolling people on the opposite quay-side caught my eye, and I took this shot before heading for the one behind the bicycle for a drink.
