Photographer's Note
15000 people have lost their lives, hundreds of thousands of people are said to be without clean water and shelter, with some areas still cut-off.
We can only offer our prayers.

Hi Elaine. An evocative photo to mark the tragedy that has hit these long suffering people. There is a gentleness and peace to be found in your composition. I hope that those generals who pin so many medals on each other's breasts have enough humanity in them to accept help from the international community. regards. Klaudio.

Thats wonderful and extremely controlled use of lights and colours. The sombre mood has been captured well from a good perspective. lovely composition.

Dag Elaine,
Groetjes, Henk

Hello Elaine,
Our prayers certainly go to to all Burmese, may God help them in this time of need.
Both your subjects look tranquil. The framing, composition and exposure are superb. I think that the blurred out column could have been cropped out.
Well done otherwise.

Kamran

Hello Elaine,
love the calm and peaceful atmosphere here. the lighting is wonderful, casting a nice shadow behind the worshipper; who with his shadow, the buddha statue and himself, forms a wonderful diagonal line across the frame. as for the blurred out column, i disagree with Kamran. i think you must have purposefully included it to enhance the depth in this otherwise rather flat image, also suggesting that you've taken the shot through a window or a doorway. also, your low angle view is great.
may those people rest in peace.

Dear Elaine
I have been praying for the victims of the devastation in Myanmar. As per today's news report the toll has crossed 100,000. A shot, so serene, a mood so sombre..I join the monk in prayer.
Best Regards

Hello Elaine,
A fine and solemn picture with a more serious undertone than the average TE-photo. Technically it's also good, although that seems less important in this case. I am not a praying kind, but I will certainly join you in the wish that the poor Burmese people will soon get rid of their cruel and useless leaders.
Best regards,
Gert
