Intro: I was seriously into photography once but over the years my interests shifted to CG, then to writing and teaching. Lately I've also added diving to the list but I still have to decide on a camera and housing.

Compacts can only be trusted with brightly-lit still scenes whereas DSLR's can neither shoot video nor can they be pointed from all sorts of angles like you can a compact with a swivel LCD.

Joining TE makes me want to go out and shoot again ;) and when DSLR makers finally get their act together I'll probably go on a rampage.
