the women was brought out by cropping and B&W signifies grass root level and rusticity.Just cropping, then adjusting Highlights and shadows and contrasts.

I darkened some areas with the "curves" tool and then added some sepia. it might be too dark depending on the monitor though... :)

In Photoshop, selected the icecream & inverted selection.
Enhanced contrast to +45
I also tried a bit of crop to the left

I selected the right side of the picture, without the dark shadow, created a new copy, re-framed, then used the tool rubber to clean the edges. What do you think?
