The National Cathedral in Washington, DC was built during a period spanning the years 1907-1990. It was completed in 83 years to the day, and christened by Queen Elizabeth II who journeyed from England. It is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and second largest in the USA. The majestic edifice sits at the "summit" of Mount St. Alban, the highest elevation in the city, 115 m (377 feet).
