Photographer's Note

Guru Padmasambhava ( born from the Lotus) or Guru Rinpoche (precious one) is second most important religious person in Buddhism after Lord Buddha. Thus he is also known as Second Buddha.
His influence over Buddhism can be found in many countries like, India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. During his life time he has performed many miracles in order to save and strengthen Buddhism. He practiced and enriched Tantric Buddhism. Some say he is still living and keeping a watch on people following the Dharma. He is held in respect, awe and sometimes in fear by Buddhists.
The above is a shot of the statue of Guru Padmasambhava on the Samdruptse Hill near Namchi town in the Indian state of Sikkim. Standing 118 ft tall, till 2012 this was the highest statue of Guru Rinpoche in the whole world. Now 123 ft. high statue in Rewalsar in Himachal Pradesh is the highest in the world.
