This picture was taken back in the early 1980 whith a 35mm Miranda SENSOREX II while this coal chute was still in place at Rivière-du-Loup station. This structure was disbanded in the late 1950 when the old steam locomotives were replaced by diesel-fuelled locomotives. Photo is untouched with no emphasis on the sky; the structure is dull and was dismantle in the early nineties. Under the structure there is an Halifax eastbound freight Canadian national rwy train. May be this was a Québec westbound train.

Peu de ces structures ferroviaires utilisées pour l’allimentation en charbon des locomotives à vapeur subsistent aujourd’hui. Lorsque cette photo fut prise à l’époque, l’auteur ne pouvait anticiper qu’elle seraient démantelée au début des années 1990.

La vieille chute à charbon de Rivière-du-Loup est représentée ici, dépouillée de tout attrait, l’environnement est terne, tout a l’apparence de vieux et de laissé à l’abandon. Même l’herbe a de la dificulté à verdir dans un tel environnement.

J'ai fait un workshop sur ta photo.



1-Recadrer la photo pour éliminer la bordure au bas.

2-Avec la bagette magique j'ai sélectionné le ciel.

3-Inversion pour que la chute à charbon soit sélectionnée.

4-USM 50%, 0.3 et 0 quatre fois

5-Avec la baguette magique j'ai sélectionné le haut de la chute à charbon et fait USM une autre fois avec les même mesures.

This is a structure in Aylmer Ont, most likely built around the same time period. Same type of day and shooting into sunny skies.

Back in March 2003 I took this picture not knowing that it will end up in TE near the coal chute of Rivière-du-Loup.



In Toronto, the coal chute is located near the CN tower.
